Remains of quarry walls on Mount Nokogiri in Kyonan Town, Chiba Prefecture

Summary[edit]

Description
English: The remains of the quarry wall of Mount Nokogiri (Nokogiriyama in Japanese)[1] can be found in various places along the boundary between Kyonan Town[2] and Futtsu City[3] in the southern part of the Bōsō Peninsula[4], Chiba Prefecture. The photo above is the summit of this mountain in Kyonan.
<Note> From the end of Edo to the Showa era, it was mainly used as a material for the Yokosuka military port, Yokohama port facility, Tokyo Bay fortress, on the premises of Yasukuni Shrine and Waseda University. Quarrying was ended in 1985 due to the tightening of nature maintenance regulations. Mt. Nokogiri is currently used as a tourism resource.[5]
