Description
English: A time-series animation graphic of traffic calming implementation on Harbor Road in Shelburne, Vermont from 2006-2012, cited in a white paper: "Effectiveness of Radar Speed Feedback Signs & Other Traffic Calming Techniques: A Test Case in Shelburne, Vermont 2006-2012", published by the Addison County Regional Planning Commission in 2013.[1] The animation takes about 2.5 minutes to complete its cycle that demonstrates the reduction in the 85th Percentile Speed measured at three locations along the roadway before and after the installation of traffic calming devices, including; painted crosswalks, MUTCD pedestrian warning signage, bulb-outs, and radar speed feedback signs. The results were captured utilizing Automatic Traffic Recorders (ATRs) (represented by the green dots) for a continuous seven-day period. Analysis of the data revealed a total reduction of 85th percentile speed ranging from -3 to -8 mph over the course of the six year study period of the improvements.
