Description
English: Die Physikerin und Pädagogin Margaret Eliza Maltby (1860-1944) war die erste amerikanische Frau, die an der Universität Göttingen (1895) einen Abschluss machte. Sie wurde Professorin für Physik und hielt den Lehrstuhl am Barnard College zwischen 1903 und 1934. 1926 wurde von der American Association of University Women die Margaret E. Maltby Fellowship als Stipendienprogramm für studierende Frauen eingerichtet.
English: Physicist and educator Margaret Eliza Maltby (1860-1944) was the first American woman allowed to take a degree at Göttingen University (in 1895); she became professor of physics and department chair at Barnard College, 1903-1934. In 1926, the American Association of University Women established a fellowship in Maltby's honor
