Image title | 040922-N-1205W-001 Arabian Gulf (22 September 2004) Operational Specialist Third Class Juan Juarez of Espancla New Mexico, looks for surface contacts on the Surface Search Radar 67 (SPS-67) in Combat Direction Center (CDC) on board the conventionally powered aircraft carrier USS John F Kennedy (CV 67). CDC uses various different radar systems to detect and track aircraft and surface crafts in the operational area. The USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67) and Carrier Air Wing 17 (CVW 17) deployed June 7 and are operating in the Middle East region as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Units in the Kennedy Strike Group are working closely with Multi-National Corps-Iraq and Iraqi forces to bring stability to the sovereign government of Iraq.
