Summary
[edit]DescriptionSaab (97) Sonett II 1967.jpg |
English: After prototyping, the winning MFI-13 design was selected for production as Saab 97 Sonett II, a lightweight 2-door 2-seater with a fiberglass body.
Early production models, like this one, used a two stroke 3 cilinder 841 cc engine (same as in Saab 96), with three carburettors delivering 60hp to the front wheels through a 4-speed gearbox. A total of 258 (230 production) two stroke Sonett-II have been built, when the switch to the V4 engine was made due to regulations in its main market, the USA. The two stroke version is recognizable by the flat bonnet. The V4 version has a bulge. |
