| Description |
Sabino Canyon is a very scenic canyon, with vegetation fed by a water stream from Mt. Lemmon's snowmelt, tucked into northeastern Tucson. I consider this to be Tucson's best-kept secret. Looking up the canyon toward Mt. Lemmon. Quite a sight, with saguaro growing as far as I can see. Sabino Canyon is accessed by a one-lane road built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. It had been intended to be the access road for Mt. Lemmon, but the routing was eventually abandoned in favor of Catalina Highway further east. The one-lane road is now a dead-end road, served only by visitor shuttles for Sabino Canyon. |
