Description
English: Sabre of the 19th century exhibited in the Historical Military Museum of Cartagena (Spain), with the following description in English:

Sabre for an officer of the Civic Militia. "Homeland and Freedom", 1869. Factory of Toledo.

This sabre, handed down by Mrs. María Nieves Hernández Ramón, belonged to her grandfather, Mr. Francisco Hernández Arce, also known as "El Melguizo", he fought for a federal republic in Spain and a cantonal autonomy for Murcia, together with his brother-in-law, Mr. Antonio Gálvez Arce (1819-1898), better known as "Antonete Gálvez". The latter was a local councillor, a federalist revolutionary, a Member of the Spanish Parliament, a conspirator with progressive ideas, as well as a leader of the Murcian Canton. He was also "Commanding General of all the land and sea forces of the city and district of Cartagena" during the Cantonal Uprising (1873-74).

Este sable ha sido cedido por doña María Nieves Hernández Ramón, y perteneció a su abuelo, don Francisco Hernández Arce, «El Melguizo», revolucionario y federalista murciano, que luchó por una república federal para España y una autonomía cantonal para Murcia, junto con su cuñado don Antonio Gálvez Arce (1819-1898), más conocido como «Antonete Gálvez», quien fue concejal, revolucionario, federalista, diputado progresista en el Parlamento español, dirigente del Cantón Murciano y «comandante general de todas las fuerzas de mar y tierra de la plaza y del Departamento de Cartagena» durante la sublevación cantonal de los años 1873-74.

En la fotografía podemos ver a don Francisco Hernández Arce (sentado) y franqueado por su cuñado, Antonete Gálvez y el hijo de este, Enrique.
