Description
English: The sagebrush steppe in the uplands east of Adel is dominated by either Artemisia arbuscula (little sagebrush) or Artemisia tridentata vaseyana (mountain big sagebrush) and in either case Bromus tectorum is essentially non-existent within the sagebrush steppe even though common roadside. This mountain big sagebrush site includes abundant Chrysothamnus nauseosus and Ch. viscidiflorus, Purshia tridentate, Tetradymia canescens, Leptodactylon pungens, Agropyron spicatum, Elymus elymoides, Festuca idahoensis, Stipa nelsonii, and many herbs including species of Crepis, Lupinus, Eriogonum, and Astragalus. The presence of Agropyron cristatum and abundance of Bromus japonicus suggests a history of disturbance in spite of the native plant diversity.
