English: 070623-N-4124C-004 SHOALWATER BAY, Australia (June 23, 2007) - A Sailor of Royal Australian Navy ship HMAS Kanimbla (L 51) checks the safety on his weapon as part of visit, board, search and seizure training. Kanimbla, along with sailors and army personnel of the Australia Defense Force, have been working in conjunction with U.S. military personnel as part of exercise Talisman Saber 2007 (TS07). TS07 is an Australian and U.S. joint and combined exercise designed to prepare both nations in crisis action planning and the execution of contingency operations. The exercise is meant to improve interoperability, combat readiness and strengthen the Australian-U.S. alliance. Expeditionary Strike Group 7/Task Force 76 is the Navy’s only permanently forward-deployed amphibious force, based in Okinawa, Japan, with an operating detachment in Sasebo, Japan.
