Title
Sale Bill for the Estate of Christian Augspurger, 1848 November 09
Description
Christian Augspurger died without a will, so all of his possessions needed to be sold, in order for the assets to be equally divided among his surviving children, and the three minor children of his deceased son, Christian. The forty pages of the Sale Bill list each article sold, the name of purchaser and the price. The sale took place on November 9, 1848 and netted $5942.47 for the estate. On January 5, 1849, Samuel Augspurger, one of the Administrators of the Estate of Christian Augspurger, came before John William Sohn, Clerk of the State of Ohio, Butler County, and James McBride, Clerk of the Court of Common Pleas of Butler County, to sign the official documents completing the Sale Bill. Many names of those included in the Sale Bill use common shortened forms and abbreviations in the official transcripts. For best results, search for last name first. "Samuel" sometimes appears as "Saml" or "Saml."; "Joseph" sometimes appears as "Jos", "Jos." or "Jos:"; "Daniel" sometimes appears as "Danl"; "William" sometimes appears as "Wm" or "Wm."; "Benjamin" sometimes appears as "Benjn"; and "Christian" sometimes appears as "Christn".
