Description

Brecciated marble ("Salome Marble", a.k.a. "Supren Marble") (field of view ~20 centimeters across), metamorphosed during the Cimmeride Orogeny (Norian to Hettangian Stages, middle Late Triassic to early Early Jurassic), which involved a collision event and a partial accretion event of an oceanic plateau with the southern margin of Laurasia.

Locality: commercial quarry at or near the town of Supren, south of the city of Eskisehir, Anatolide-Tauride Block, northwestern Turkey.
