Description
English: Salt wells or traps were carved into lava rock by the ocean to catch and harvest sea salt or Pa’akai. Sea salt was used by Native Hawaiians for preserving food, for religious and ceremonial purposes, and as medicine. Located at Pu’uhonua O Honaunau National Historic Park NRHP # 66000104
