[edit]DescriptionSamch'ok Harbor (117349806).jpg |
At this port on the east coast of Korea, coal from area mines was loaded onto small ships for shipment to Fusan. Here it was hauled by rail back north to Seoul. The Russians north of the 38th Parallel had cut off coal shipments from the north in the fall of 1945. In November of 1945 Jack Davis and I traveled almost 3 days to reach this place, after following unreliable maps and getting lost several times, on an assignment to shoot movies and stills. |
