Summary[edit]

Description
English: Khung Bang Kachao covers an area of 6 subdistricts – Bang Kachao, Bang Krasop , Bang Yo, Bang Nam Phueng, Song Khanong, and Bang KoBua. Shaped by several bends of watercourse into a stomach-like landscape, this area, with 12,000 rai in width, is sometimes called “Swine’s stomach”. It is a large green area on the outskirts of Bangkok, and thus is labelled as “The Lungs of Bangkok” which produces oxygen for 6 million people daily.

The scenery here features orchard areas and shad trees, replete with natural resources, and was designated as a tourist attraction with an emphasis on cultural landscape “Orchard Area for Conservation Tourism”. Visitors can make a one-day trip, cycling for fresh air, learning how to grow, maintain, and harvest fruits, and buying fruits directly from growers. Homestays are also offered to those who want to spend a longer visit.

In 2006, it was preserved as a green area, by order of Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, and was later acclaimed “The Best Urban Oasis of Asia” by Times magazine.
