DescriptionSan Marcos Pass.jpg |
San Marcos Pass is a beautiful stretch of road that goes inland between Santa Barbara and Highway 101 just south of Los Alamos, California (warning: speed trap in Los Alamos). I love San Marcos Pass. Up ahead you can see Lake Cachuma (or is it Cachuma Lake?). After Cachuma you will see ranches and vineyards. This is the Santa Ynez valley famous for Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch, Ronald Reagan's ranch, Noah Wiley's ranch, Bo Derek's ranch... oh, you get the picture. Great wine tasting, cool lake (that for some ridiculous reason you are not allowed to swim in), and of course our favorite: LIVE OAK MUSIC FESTIVAL. Other cool things on this road: Cold Springs Tavern -- a kind of biker hang out that makes a mean grilled meat whatever. You'll wanna go for the super cool ambience and people watching. |
