Summary[edit]
DescriptionSanctuaire Saint-Marcel (Indre) - 2.jpg |
English: Saint-Marcel (Indre).
Argentomagus. Saint-Marcel (Indre). Argentomagus. The searches have unearthed ruins of three temples. There are probably a fourth in the West. These temples date back to the first century, but they were then redeveloped. Two temples, native, has a square (10 m on each side for a 6 m and for the other). They consisted of a cella (room where there were statues of deities) surrounded by a circulation gallery. The third temple, rectangular, without circulation gallery, should include, in addition to the naos, vestibule (pronaos) and is similar to classical temples. The whole "cella" and gallery was the "fanum". This sanctuary, protected by an enclosure, was perhaps dedicated to the god Mercury. |
