Description
Deutsch: Die St.-Jakobi-Kirche ist die evangelisch-lutherische Hauptkirche der niedersächsischen Kreisstadt Peine. Sie befindet sich zentral an der Peiner Fußgängerzone. Die neugotische Saalkirche wurde von 1896 bis 1899 nach Plänen von Eberhard Hillebrand erbaut. Die Kirche gilt als ein bauzeitliches und kongeniales Gesamtkunstwerk. Markant ist die Verwendung von flankierenden Türmen im Chor und Turmbereich. Die Kirche ist ein nordnordöstlich ausgerichteter einschiffiger Sandsteinquaderbau mit schmalem Langhaus, kurzem Querhaus, leicht verbreitertem Chor mit geradem Abschluss und zwei flankierenden Treppentürmen sowie einem seitlichen und einem zentralen polygonalen Sakristeianbau.
