Summary[edit]

Description
English: 050627-N-0295M-329 St. Inigoes, Md. (June 27, 2005) – A “ScanEagle” Unmanned Aerial Vehicle on display at the 2005 Naval UAV Air Demo held at the Webster Field Annex of Naval Air Station Patuxent River. ScanEagle is an affordable, runway-independent, long-endurance, autonomous, unmanned vehicle designed to provide persistent intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance date, and battlefield damage assessment and/or communications relay. Its standard payload is either an inertial stabilized electro-optical camera, or an infrared camera. The gimbaled camera allows the operator to easily track both stationary and moving targets. Currently in use by U.S. Marine Corps in Iraq, ScanEagle UAVs have surpassed over 3000 combat flight hours in ten months. The daylong UAV demonstration highlights unmanned technology and capabilities from the military and industry and offers a unique opportunity to display and demonstrate full-scale systems and hardware. This year’s theme was, “Focusing Unmanned Technology on the Global War on Terror.”
