| Description |
Nederlands: De schans van Castelré is van het type redoute dat aan de rivier De Mark ligt die de grens tussen België en Nederland aangeeft. Castelré is eeuwenlang een knooppunt geweest van militaire wegen. Castelré met het de historische plaats 't Groeske ligt ingesloten tussen twee grensrivieren, ten westen De Mark en ten noorden 't Merkske en ten zuiden met de gracht De Hollandse Loop. De bruggen over deze kleine riviertjes waren strategisch belangrijk om de legerverplaatsingen te controleren. De schans ligt net ten noorden van de brug naar Minderhout. Aanliggend ligt het gehucht Schootsenhoek dat een verwijzing is naar het schootsveld. De schans zelf ligt aan de Schooreindseweg of Schrans wat een mogelijke verwijzing kan zijn naar een houten omwalling. |

Raster met resolutie 25 cm, aangemaakt door Agentschap Informatie Vlaanderen (EODaS) in samenwerking met het Agentschap Onroerend Erfgoed op basis van de LiDAR LAZ remote sensing brondata van DHM-Vlaanderen II.
