Description
English: This majestic monument was built in 1875 for the Senior family, by amateur architect Morris Cardoze (1855 - 1946); and was later sold to the Maduro family. This house is the birthplace of war hero George Maduro (1916 - 1945). Contrary to most other Scharloo mansions, this one was built further away from the street. To reach the house one has to walk over a broad pathway, formerly paved with marble tiles. The fan shaped stairs leads to a terrace under the monumental portico, supported by 14 columns of the tuscan order.
