Summary

[edit]
DO NOT USE THIS SCHEMATIC !!! IT OMITS R4 IN THE RECIEVE SECTION!!!!! USE THE SCHEMATIC CURRENTLY LINKED IN THE WIKIPEDIA MIDI ARTICLE.
Description
English: This is a schematic of the electronics of a MIDI connection, drawn by me using the GPLed FRITZING tool. It shows how MIDI moves digital data while maintaining electrical isolation between two devices.
Date I drew it on the MBTA commuter rail train on Wed and Thu, 2015-12-16 and 2015-12-17
Source

I used the GPLed "fritzing" electronics tool to draw it, based on information publicized by the MIDI Association, inc. It is not a line-by-line copy; it is my interpretation with several specifics pointed out. I then further annotated the drawing with Inkscape to add things that Fritzing can't do, like the cable shield in dotted lines, as well as redefined the page size.
