Summary
[edit]DescriptionSchmiech Karstquelle Schwaebische-Alb.jpg |
English: Protected Geotope and Natural monument “Schmiechursprung”, a karst spring of rivulet “Schmiech” (flowing into Danube), Swabian Alb. The spring caved a large niche (ca. 3,5 m broad, ca. 2,5 m high, ca. 3 m depth) into the steep rockwall of limestone of the South German White Jurassic. The 5 km “Mühltal” above the spring is a steep-sided dry valley. 10 km altogether, part of the dry valley above the spring and the part of the rivulet-valley to the village “Hütten” are a Naturschutzgebiet, which is protected for its species-richness of fauna-flora-habitats on juniper heaths, forest ecosystems and wet meadows in the valley. |
