Mayor Anthony Williams, former Congressman from D.C. and long-time civic and religious leader Walter Fauntroy, and other officials at press event marking a housing redevelopment partnership between HUD and the Church Association for Community Services (CACS), a faith-based non-profit organization representing over 40 churches in Washington, D.C. Under the agreement, HUD is selling 300 Federal Housing Administration-foreclosed, vacant properties--lying within five D.C. areas designated as "revitalization zones"--to CACS at deep discounts, with CACS then rehabilitating the houses and re-selling them to low and moderate-income families at below-market prices.
