Summary[edit]

Description
English: The Gate of Persecution and the city walls. The city walls stretched for about a kilometer and there was an inner and an outer wall. Materials from Ephesus and the Temple of Artemis were reused in its gates. There were three main entrances, to the east, south and west. The main gate, called the Gate of Persecution, is in the south and has two square towers on either side of an arched entrance. To adorn it a sarcophagus surface with Eros reliefs was used.
