English: Fragment of one of the serpents’ head from the Serpentine Column built to commemorate the Greek victory at Plataea in 479 BC, Upon this serpent column was erected a golden tripod made from the tithes of spoils obtained in said battle. Archaeological Museum of Istanbul, Turkey.
