বাংলা: শালবন বৌদ্ধ বিহার বাংলাদেশের প্রাচীন সভ্যতার নিদর্শনগুলোর মধ্যে অন্যতম। কুমিল্লা জেলার লালমাই-ময়নামতি প্রত্নস্থলের অসংখ্য প্রাচীন স্থাপনাগুলোর একটি এই বৌদ্ধ বিহার । এটি ১২শ প্রত্নতাত্ত্বিক এলাকা হিসেবে চিহ্নিত। ধারণা করা হয় যে খৃস্টীয় সপ্তম শতাব্দীর শেষ থেকে অষ্টম শতাব্দীর প্রথম ভাগে দেববংশের চতুর্থ রাজা শ্রীভবদেব এ বৌদ্ধ বিহারটি নির্মাণ করেন। শালবন বিহারের ছয়টি নির্মাণ ও পুনর্নির্মাণ পর্বের কথা জানা যায়। খৃস্টীয় অষ্টম শতাব্দীর মধ্যে তৃতীয় পর্যায়ে কেন্দ্রীয় মন্দিরটি নির্মাণ করা হয় ও বিহারটির সার্বিক সংস্কার হয় বলে অনুমান করা হয়। চতুর্থ ও পঞ্চম পর্যায়ের নির্মাণকাজ ও সংস্কার কাজ সম্পন্ন হয় নবম-দশম শতাব্দীতে। English: Shalban vihara (Sanskrit; Bengali: শালবন বিহার Shalban Bihar) in Mainamati,Comilla, Bangladesh is one of the best known Buddhist viharas in the Indian Subcontinent and is one of the most important archaeological sites in the country. At the end of the 8th century, King Shri Bhavadeva (Vobodev) made the "Salban Bihar" in this place. The digging started from 80th decades. Many archaeological elements were found here.
