English: The short-billed minivet, belonging to the Campephagidae family, is a bird species distributed across Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, and Vietnam. It thrives in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. This bird, adorned with vibrant colors and a lengthy tail, predominantly dwells in the forest canopy.

The males of this species showcase a striking combination of bright red and black, while the females exhibit a more subdued palette of gray and yellow. Their appearance closely resembles that of other red-and-black minivet species, with males featuring a wing pattern resembling a "V" or a lightning bolt. Notably, the wing pattern lacks the additional blotches seen in the slightly larger Scarlet Minivet. Female short-billed minivets differ from their counterparts in other similarly colored species like the Long-tailed and Gray-chinned Minivets, showing less gray on the head.

Typically, the short-billed minivet occupies an intermediate altitude range between the Long-tailed and Scarlet Minivets. Their vocalizations consist of high, thin whistles that contribute to the soundscape of their forest habitats.
