Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This is siddhanath temple of Omkareshwar , MP , dedicated to lord Shiva . It is located on the mandhata island on the parikrama marg , from here there is view of backwaters and the Omkareshwar dam on thele
Narmada river .The temple was attacked by Mahmud of Ghazni but it still stands tall symbolizing its strength. It is built in 13th century in brahminic and indo nagara style . Siddhanath Temple is situated nearly at the end of the Omkareshwar Parikrama. It is supported by a huge podium whose 4 sides have been ornamented with figures and mural art paintings. The frescos of elephants are the main attraction of this temple, which is carved in stone 1.5m in height. The central shrine is accessible from four sides and exquisite carvings can be seen on the walls and pillars of the temple. Also, there is a cluster of Hindu and Jain temples, all remarkable for their skillful use of varied architectural modes.
But there is need for restoration of the temple and near by it there was one more great temple which was complete destroyed by the Muslim rulers , at present only base of that temple is remained and its stones and sculptures are scattered . So I want the government to look towards and restore these artistic marvels of great importance .
