English: 19th century silver and mother of pearl belt buckle from the island of Skyros. The white colour of the pearl represents purity and consequently denotes Christ. Similar buckles are found in both religious and secular jewelry most commonly on Skyros. Ilias Lalaounis Jewelry Museum
