| Description |
The village of Marmellar sits in the hills inland from Barcelona, Spain almost hidden by trees. The first historical mention of the village was back in 1023. By 1970 the population had dwindled to 26 inhabitants. In 1976 a fire struck the area and shortly after the remaining villagers left. Now it consists of crumbling homes, a church in ruins, and empty tombs which are overgrown with weeds in this isolated village located a half hour hike from the nearest paved road. It now has a sinister reputation. A few years ago, long after it was abandoned, there were two separate murder victims found here. There have been rumours of satanic rituals and not surprisingly people say there are ghosts. El pueblo de Marmellar se encuentra en las colinas tierra adentro desde Barcelona, España, casi escondido por los árboles. La primera mención histórica de la aldea data de 1023. Para 1970, la población había disminuido a 26 habitantes. En 1976, un incendio azotó el área y poco después se fueron los aldeanos restantes. Ahora consiste en casas derruidas, una iglesia en ruinas y tumbas vacías que están cubiertas de malezas en este pueblo aislado ubicado a media hora de caminata desde la carretera asfaltada más cercana. Ahora tiene una reputación siniestra. Hace unos años, mucho después de que fue abandonado, se encontraron dos víctimas de asesinato separadas aquí.
