Description
English: Sir Michael Iheonukara Okpara Nigerian statesman and Premier of Eastern Nigeria from 1959 to 1966, was a leading figure in Nigeria's independence movement,and he was known for his progressive policies and his efforts to improve education, health care,and infrastructure in the Eastern Region. After Nigeria's independence in 1960,he became the first Premier of Eastern Nigeria,and he held that position until the region was divided into three states in 1966.
