Description
English: This digital image created by Courtney G. Coffman portrays Dibé Nitsaa, a summit in the Sangre de Cristo Range north of Blanca, Colorado, known in English as "Blanca Peak". This work was commissioned by Guardian Zero of Open Source Navajo. The image was uploaded by Guardian Zero to the Internet Archive on 2020-09-08. Guardian Zero explains the commission and the cultural context here. The description at the Internet Archive page reads:
Meet Me at the House of Dawn. Rendition of the Navajo Sacred Mountain of the East, Sisnaajiní. The traditional Guardian of the Mountain, a bear, is included--rendered here as twin bears in reference to the original Navajo twin heroes. Commissioned by Guardian Zero as a project to help revitalize and reinvigorate Diné Culture. Free to share and download.
