| Description | The French Casino, which was located where this Walgreen's now stands, was a nightclub from 1934 thru 1939. On June 22, 1934, John Dillinger celebrated his 31st birthday here. On that same day the FBI declared Dillinger as their first Public Enemy #1. Exactly one month later, he would be killed near the Biograph Theater on the northside. Photo note: The cream colored building on the left is the former McGovern Brother's Inn, a gangster hangout and speakeasy where a young Dean O'Banion got his start. Located at 641 N Clark Street |
