DescriptionSkûtsjesilen Earnewâld.jpg |
SKS - Skûtsjesilen @ Earnewâld, showing ships "Twee Gebroeders" (E - Earnewâld) and "Súdwesthoek" (SWH - Stavoren) Frisian people will probably hate me for saying this, but looking at a sailing contest with almost no wind at all kind of sucks. Especially when you realize that the skûtsjes are actually bulky transport sailing ships of almost a century old. These babies need wind, a lot of it! So with no wind at all you find yourself and thousands of other people gazing at seemingly still-floating ships. If you look at the ships on the photo, you'll see that the crew is actually trying to move the sails back and forth. Can anyone explain the newtonian logic behind this? |
