A sketch by Captain John Clifford Procter 13th Gloucestershire Regiment which is on display at The Royal Ulster Rifles Museum, Waring Street, Belfast Northern Ireland. On the sketch is written in pencil. In an orchard. On the cross:- "Two British Soldiers, and unknown Captain and private Royal Irish Rifles. Typed underneath the sketch. A sketch presented by the Gloucestershire Regiment April 1957 made by Captain T Proctor M.C. 13th Gloucesters in France 1914/1918. The correct name should have been J C Procter

John Clifford PROCTOR. FRIBA, (Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects) Military Cross Born 9 July 1882 at Acomb Yorkshire to Henry Richardson and Emma Lindsay Procter 1891 with his parents and siblings at 38 Percy Park, Tynemouth, Northumberland. 1901 (Surname transcribed at Prodor) with his parents and siblings at Thornleigh, Ilkley, Yorkshire. 1911 (Proder) with his parents and sibling at Rowan Garth, Ben Rhydding Ilkley. Profession, Architect 1914 army service. Capt. and Adj. 13th Bn Gloucestershire Regt, service in France and Flanders, MC, mentioned in despatches Supplement to London Gazette dated 8 March 1918 8 March 1918 Temporary Captain with 13th Gloucestershire Regiment. Awarded the Military Cross Married by licence 24 September 1918 to Marguerite Isobel Caroline Senior at St Michael's Parish Church Maidstone. He was Capt. and Adjt, the Gloucestershire Regiment, on active service, B.E.F 1939 with his wife and son John R at 40 Clarendon Street, Leeds West Riding Yorkshire. Died suddenly yesterday 28 August 1941 at Ulverston Lancashire. He was a talented artist who sketched life at the front in World War one. No Military Cross citation found
