English: Sketch by Albert S. Howland of an aerial view of the wreckage of the Ashtabula Bridge in Ashtabula, Ohio, in the United States, in January 1877.
The bridge collapsed on the night of December 29, 1876. Howland, a civil engineer, examined the wreckage three weeks after the accident and sketched the position of the various parts of the bridge as they lay in the valley below. |
