Description
The Michelle Selchau was built by J.H. Løwe & Søn of Helsingør in 1875. She was owned by the shipping company China of Copenhagen. From 1882, ownership was split between the merchant H.S. Bundgaard and the ship's master, O.G. Rosted. In 1884 the ship was sold to the Norwegian Alf Monsen of Tønsberg. In 1885, he had her converted to a steamship, and she received the new name Westye Egeberg. In 1900 she was back under Danish colours, bought by Kryolit-, Mine- & Handelsselskabet of Copenhagen and named Ivigtut. In June 1917 she was sunk by gunfire between the Faroes and Norway by the German submarine U 58. jmarcussen.dk (In Danish). uboat.net.
