Deutsch: Bei diesem Projekt bestand die Herausforderung darin, einem historischen Gemäuer ohne Möglichkeit zur räumlichen Erweiterung inmitten des Weltkulturerbes der Salzburger Altstadt, auf behutsame Art und Weise einen zusätzlichen Raum abzuringen. Aufgrund der Bedeutung der Altstadt und aus Respekt zum Bestand war es naturgemäß nicht möglich, in den Außenraum hinaus zu erweitern; daher musste in der bestehenden Struktur neuer Raum geschaffen werden.
Die Auflösung dieser Aufgabestellung ist unorthodox: durch eine Ausbuchtung vom Behandlungsraum in den bestehenden Warteraum wurde die Vorgabe erfüllt und in Form einer Polsterwand inklusive Stauraum mit integriertem Sofa umgesetzt. Das Sofa ist ein raumbildendes Element, das beide Räume ineinandergreifen lässt und einen positiven Einfluss auf die Akustik des Warteraumes ausübt. Die Farbgebung und Rhythmik der Polsterung spielt mit der floral bemalten, historischen Holzdecke der Ordination. Die wellenförmige und gepolsterte Struktur der Rauminstallation bietet als Designelement räumliche Opulenz und schafft Struktur auf kleinem Raum. Dass der Warteraum verkleinert wurde, fällt dabei nicht auf. Die Notwendigkeit etwas wegzunehmen wird geschickt in das Gefühl, etwas hinzugewonnen zu haben umgeformt. Das neue Element wird von den Besuchern als großzügige Erweiterung des Wartebereiches wahrgenommen und Kinder verbringen die Wartezeit auf den Zahnarzttermin entspannt im Sofa liegend. Die Notwendigkeit wird zur Tugend und der Zahnarztbesuch wird ein Stück weit angenehmer. Auch in diesem Fall wurde eine herausfordernde Ausgangslage durch eine präzise räumliche Konzeption und perfekte handwerklichen Ausführung gemeistert: In Anbetracht der beengten Situation, wie auch als Kommentar zu den Bedingungen der Stadt an sich, dem Finden brauchbarer Nischen in der historischen Bausubstanz und deren Interpretation - ist der Beitrag wertvoll und beispielgebend. Dafür wurde das Projekt „Sofawand“ mit dem Austrian Interior Design Award 2018 ausgezeichnet. |
