| Description |
English: Development of a protoplanetary disk in four stages. 1. an approximately concentric volume of gas and dust in a molecular cloud begins to contract; 2. the contraction increases angular speed: the cloud's angular velocity and rotation increase and it is flattened into a disk; 3. while the central star ignites, vortices and pressure waves develop locally into denser areas; 4. in the denser areas accretion of small dust particles creates objects with size up to 10 - 100 km - planetesimals, meanwhile the intense stellar wind of the young star blows away most of the remaining gas and dust.
Nederlands: Ontwikkeling van een protoplanetaire schijf in vier stappen. 1. een bij benadering concentrisch volume in een moleculaire nevel begint samen te trekken; 2. de samentrekking versnelt de rotatie vanwege het behoud van hoekmoment: de wolk gaat steeds sneller roteren en raakt afgeplat tot een schijf; 3. uit lokale draaikolken en drukgolven ontstaan verdichtingen - tegelijk ontbrandt in het middelpunt de proto-ster; 4. de verdichtingen groeien aan tot planetesimalen en de sterrenwind blaast het overgebleven gas en stof weg. |
