Inscriptions: WOBURN HONORS THE MEMORY/OF HER SONS/WHO FELL IN THE WAR FOR THE/UNION AND FREEDON/1861-1865/THE SPIRIT OF LIBERTY LIVES/IN THE ASHES OF ITS DEFENDERS (On bronze plaque on left side of base, in raised letters:) KILLED IN BATTLE (list of 26 names) (On bronze plaque on back of base, in raised letters:) KILLED OF DISEASE (list of 27 names) (On plaque of right side of base, in raised letters:) DIED OF WOUNDS (list of 17 names) DIED IN/REBEL PRISONS (list of 16 names) signed Founder's mark appears.
