Description Lot 11588-30: North African Campaign. 8th Army Consolidates Its New Position: South African Sappers Laying Mines. The mines are distributed to their positions from a central stack, and Sappers dig big shallow holes alongside them. Armorers fuse the mines and place them in position. Finally, they are covered with sand. South African Engineers laying mines in the advanced Egyptian battle area. Office of War Information Photograph. (2016/02/11).
