Deutsch: Vorderseite: + FERNANDVS Z HELISABET D G REX Z REGIN. Die einander zugekehrten gekrönten Brustbilder Ferdinands und Isabellas. Unten Wertzahl 4 und Münzzeichen K. Oben Graffito.

Rückseite: SVB VNBRA ALARVM TVAR [Sub umbra alarum tuarum. Unter dem Schatten Deiner Flügel]. Gekröntes Wappen auf Adler.

Kommentar: Graffito auf der Vorderseite. - Der spanische Excelente entspricht dem Dukaten, 4 Excelente also 4 Dukaten. Es sind auch Stücke zu 10, 20 und 50 Excelente ausgegeben worden. Der Bildtyp ist dabei immer gleich, Wertzahl und Münzstättenzeichen sind meist angegeben. Die Rs.-Umschrift ist dem 17. Psalm entlehnt (sub umbra alarum tuarum proteges me = Unter dem Schatten Deiner Flügel beschirme mich).
