Description
English: As a run up to Navy Week - 2017 celebrations, Special Children and Senior Citizens of Kochi Area were hosted at naval base Kochi on 22 Nov 17. About 100 special children from various special schools and several senior citizens were provided a glimpse of activities at naval base through a guided tour which lasted more than three hours. The visitors were taken on-board and conducted around Indian Naval Ships Tir and Sujata. The special children were entertained by a magic show onboard INS Tir. Besides the visit to ships, a naval exhibition and screening of a film on Indian Navy were organised for the visitors. The children and the senior citizens also witnessed a precisely executed ‘Continuity Drill’ performed by the naval personnel from the gunnery training establishment of Southern Naval Command (SNC), INS Dronacharya, who executed a series of intricate drill manoeuvres in perfect timing with each other, without a single word of command. The highlight of the tour was the visit to the Naval Aircraft Yard, where they were provided an opportunity to see and feel the different types of aircraft operated by the navy, available at SNC.
