DescriptionSt. Helen's, Boultham, Lincoln.jpg | The Anglican parish church in Boultham, now a district of Lincoln but once an outlying hamlet mentioned in The Domesday Book, is dedicated to St. Helen. The first church is mentioned when Gilbert of Ghent, a nephew of William the Conqueror, endowed the newly founded Bardney Abbey with the Manor or Estate of Boultham. In about 1150 Gilbert’s grandson, Robert, Earl of Lincoln, gave the care of the church and the appointment of a Rector to the Abbott and Convent of Bardney. A new church was built in early 13th Century of which only parts remain after the Church was totally restored, lengthened and had new windows added in 1887 by the Ellisons in memory of various members of their family. | ||
