Summary[edit]
DescriptionSt. Stanislaus Rectory, Buffalo, New York - 20200531.jpg |
English: The rectory of St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church at 348 Peckham Street, Buffalo, New York, as seen in May 2020. Built in 1914 - six years after the addition of the twin towers to complete the construction of the church itself - the rectory's Spanish Colonial Revival design was the work of local architect Karl Schmill, whose choice of gray limestone block masonry rather than stucco for the building's façade is a departure from the usual tropes of the style. The entrance (around the corner at left from the perspective of this photo) features an enclosed Tuscan portico that projects modestly from the façade; the south elevation seen here looks out onto a lovely garden centered around a fountain with statuary of Christ surrounded by cherubim. |
