English: St. Mary's City Church. Wittenberg, Germany. The octagonal towers on the two towers were installed in the 1560s, replacing the two original Gothic spires. This is the church that Martin Luther served as an assistant pastor. He preached many of his most important sermons here. Of all the churches in Germany that can be said to be important to the Reformation, none is more important than this one. |
