Summary

[edit]
Description St Michael and All Angels Church, Dunsbury Way, Leigh Park, Hampshire, England. Built in 2004, this is one of seven churches on the large postwar Leigh Park estate in Havant (three Anglican, one Roman Catholic, one formerly Methodist but now non-denominational, one Baptist and one Evangelical). The first church opened in 1955 (dedicated to Blessed Margaret Pole; this survives as the parish hall) and was replaced by a new church with the present dedication in 1970. After this was destroyed by lightning, the present church was built on the site. A History of the Catholic Church in Havant (1975) notes that a site on Petersfield Road was bought with the intention of building a second Roman Catholic church in Leigh Park, to serve the West Leigh area and Rowlands Castle village, but nothing came of this.
