Nederlands: Als stadhouder was Prins Willem IV van Oranje tevens hoofd van leger en vloot van de Republiek. Deze ceremoniële zetel werd voor hem besteld door de admiraliteit - het vloot-bestuur - van Amsterdam. Mogelijk werd de stoel ontworpen door de Haagse kunstenaar Nicolaas Bruynestein, een zwager van Xavery, maar het kan ook zijn dat hij hem alleen heeft verguld. Meubelmaker: Toegeschreven aan (het atelier van) weduwe Jan Baptist Xavery, 1747-1748. English: As stadtholder Prince William IV of Orange also was the head of the army and navy of the Republic. This ceremonial chair was ordered for him by the Admiralty of Amsterdam Possibly the chair was designed by the Hague artist Nicholas Bruynestein, an brother-in-law of Xavery, but it could also be that he has only gilded it.
