English: Erected by Reginald Hornbrooke Gill in memory of his father, John Hornbrooke Gill of Bickham Hall.
The window was executed in Morris's workshop. Burne-Jones commissioned to create the designs which Morris coloured. The smaller upper lights and typically, the oak leaves with acorns and action scenes in the bottom row were designed and coloured by Morris himself. Top lights: Ten angels play musical instruments including pipes, clarinet, harp and hand organ. The smaller lights contain clusters of oak leaves and acorns. Upper figures: From left to right are the figures of the four Evangelists with Saint Paul in the centre. Matthew and Mark are on the left, and Luke and John are on the right. Lower figures: The prophets Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel and Jeremiah with Moses in the centre. The action scenes: The Nativity, Jesus working as a carpenter, Jesus questioning the scribes in the temple, the Baptism of Jesus, Jesus blessing the children. |
