Description

Semi-postal se-tenant of a stamp of the Nazi-German "Protektorat Böhmen und Mähren" (= Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia); 1941; issue to the 150th anniversary of death of the great Austrian musician and composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791); depicted is the se-tenant with the stamp DRBM Michel No. 80 and a decorative side field without nominaal value.; The stamp motive show the facade of the "Tyl"-Theater in Prague, also called "Ständetheater", also known as "Mozart-theater", because in this theater was premiered the opera "Don Giovanni" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at the .; This theater was erected in 1781-1783 under the direction of Franz Anton von Nostitz-Rieneck (1725-1794) at the Havelska-street in the style of the classicism with elements of the Renaissance and Baroque.; It was built with the aim to supply the town Prague as main arena for the performing arts in Europe and inaugurated in 1783.; Architect was Anton Haffenecker (1720-1789).; The opening took place in 1783 with a performance to Lessing’s work "Emilia Galotti".; Later was this theater sold to the state of Bohemia and which named it "Staatstheater" since. During the opera (Opera buffo) "Die Hochzeit des Figaro" by Wolgang Amadeus Mozart at the premiere in Vienna attracted rather indifferent interest, was on in Prague more as excited, what Mozart additional encouraged.; The motive of the additional side field shows the an two-line inscription to Mozart’s opera „Don Giovanni“ over two lines with the beginning notes of this opera over the one-line date of the premiere in Prague over a piano keybord framed by branches with flowers.; The stamp is showing an older view of the main entrance to this theater.; The depicted stamp is from the Nazi-time of the "Protektorat Böhmen und Mähren".; The protectorate "Bohemia and Moravia" was erected at and existed until to , although the old Nazi-stamps could official be used until according to an Ordinance of the Czechoslovak Postal Administration.; Reasonable for stamps of the "Protektorat" was in each case the "Postal Supervision" (German: "Postaufsicht") of the German Empire.
